Peter Pan had it right! Something I try to always do is keep a happy thought it my mind! I keep it there in the back of everything. When I feel myself starting to fall into a negative place, I pull that thought back up and it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside or even rejuvenated. It is such an easy yet effective way to try and keep yourself feeling good.
A "happy thought" is more then just a nice idea, it is something that is really strong and effective to YOU.
The “thought” can be a memory or even just a feeling. And it can be so simple. You know that feeling when the house is completely clean, physically and mentally you’re feeling great, there’s a wonderful dinner in the oven, candles are lite, you don’t have anything pressing to attend to, and you are relaxing with a magazine and a hot cup of tea. Ok maybe you don’t know that feeling because how often does that really happen. But you can imagine how good that feels, right? And when I keep a nice thought like that in my mind, I find myself wanting to try and create that for myself. I want that feeling of the prefect, carefree day. So I try to take care of anything I have been procrastinating on so I can have that peaceful feeling, I clean the house because that ALWAYS puts me in a better mood, and might work out and get dressed to help me feel better and more refreshed physically.
So really it is just a trick of the mind that helps to get my butt in gear. If I want to really have that feeling, I have to create it. Some other happy thoughts I keep in my mind are memories. One of my favorites is when the 3 of us would get together as kids and play video games. Or family vacations is another good one. Or maybe something really simple, like a time we were all laughing together.
It is really kinda hard to explain how keeping those happy thoughts in my mind makes me feel. I guess it is just a reminder of what an amazing life I have had and continue to have... What are your happy thoughts?

Today is gloomy and rainy. So my happy thoughts today are all cozy, like cuddling on the couch with a fuzzy blanket, the fire going, hot chocolate, and a good book :-)
What a great question. My favorites lately are the smile on my baby girl's face when I get her up from a nap and her cuddling up when she's falling asleep. Those help me get through the Mommy tough times. That's getting off too easy though. Non-baby happy thoughts...a good snowstorm and hanging out in the house with a bowl of soup and good movie...bonus if it happens to be a Christmas movie or a good lifetime/hallmark channel movie I just happen to catch! Sitting by the pool in Hilton Head is always a good one. And, oddly enough, I have some great memories of my first apartment in Toledo..it was such a tough time, but so liberating to be on my own and completely responsible for myself for the first time. I'd get some sushi takeout and make myself a "nest" on the pullout bed with a bunch of blankets and pillows and watch a favorite movie curled up with Callie cat. I have a lot of happy memories too from those early years with my wonderful husband. Thanks Teppy! Great advice!
oooo this is fun. By the way Tiff, Britt posted this, not me. One of my favorites is walking down to the lake with a cup of coffee in the early morning. I absolutely love mornings. Hands down my favorite time of day. I love how fresh and still the world is. I would love walking down to the pier to enjoy the coolness in the morning air and the warm sun on my skin. The best is when you know you have a fun filled day ahead of boating, and beaching, and eating! I haven't done that in years but I remember that feeling and excitement I had as a kid.
